Top 5 Paint Colours 2022
Whether it’s Pantone colour of the year Very Peri, or Benjamin Moore’s October Mist, a paint refresh in your home can be just what the doctor ordered to make your space feel invigorated and ready for the year ahead.
If you ask my husband, he would likely say that I change our wall colours far too often. And I tell him, I can’t help it! I tire of wall colours quite easily and am always trying to think of the next best colour for redecoration. When we originally moved into our Victorian cottage, I painted the built in book cases a really dark green – Myland’s Borough Market No 38 to be exact– only to find it began to feel stagnant and dull a short time later. Not actually the paint’s fault – it’s a really rich, luxurious colour, perfect for kitchen cabinets – it’s more to do with the natural light in the room and where the shelves were situated. Nevertheless I scraped the green off and replaced with a powdery Prada blue. Much lighter, brighter and again confirming the belief that my colour decisions are usually influenced by fashion in some way.
Personally, I like to pick colours that I love rather than that what’s on trend. So, below are my top picks for 2022 for walls, ceilings, furniture and accents!
1. Maritime Teal, Dulux Heritage
I really love this greeny blue shade. Almost like a dark duck egg. Perfect for most places in your home.
2. Tan, Little Greene
This tan colour feels so interesting to me. Because it’s quite a retro tone, I think it needs to be used on the wall, skirting boards and crown moldings to make it feel modern. Pair with a Cobalt or Cornflower Blue.
3. Lilac, Lick. From Yinka Ilori’s Maximalist Brights collection
I’m not sure I’m quite brave enough to use Pantone’s Very Peri this year, I’d be more likely to opt for something like this lovely Lilac from Lick.
4. Heat, Little Greene
I didn’t realise how versatile orange was until I used it for a few projects recently. I will definitely be using this deep rusty orange colour in my home this year.
5. Retro Olive, Designers Guild
This Retro Olive has a yellowish undertone, and feels like a new take on classic green olive.
